My Poetry
.

Alone

Alone with my thoughts I stand and beckon a flame from my lighter

Pipe smoke rises before my eyes clouding the view ahead of me

My gaze is focused on nothing in particular, just tomorrow

Not that today is without interest or unworthy of my consideration

But the mystery of the days to come intrigue the dreamer in my soul

The wonder of life in the moment can pale in comparison to the imaginings of the writer痴 mind especially if he is alone

Alone by choice is the mantra of the pathetic

Alone by circumstance, the burden of the lost

Alone for the week end, cruel and unusual punishment for a man in love

Idle hands are said to be the Devil痴 workshop

An idle mind I fear is much more dangerous

For with the mind atrocities most heinous take to flight

Only the will of the thinker aborting their fruition

Stilling a hand bent on revenge for transgressions past

Denying the blade the taste of evildoers blood

Postponing the inevitable administration of justice

And the peace of mind their end will bring

Night falls darkening the room

But still my surroundings be brighter than my mind痴 mood

Caffeine, nicotine and loneliness fuel the somber rage

My soul soother is nowhere to be found

Sounds of the night beckon for the prowl, the hunt

For beasts more evil even than myself

Their evil done, mine to come

The clouds break and a singular moon beam streaks through the blinds

It finds rest on the edge of the blade hanging on the wall

The blade destined to deliver mine enemies unto me

To demand restitution

To lay to rest the blood lust in my soul

A sword yet chaste but waiting

In the mean time my soul soother will return

She will calm the beast

The wicked will live on another day

Likely unhindered with guilt of mind and spirit from their evil deeds

But I know, I remember, I never forget, I will have my say

There is no forgiveness I will see justice served for myself

But not till I am ever alone

Bub

If I Were God

Alone

The Balance
